Orbiter for Aviation
Our patent-pending, smart seating technology reduces musculoskeletal pain experienced by aircrews on long duration flights. Kalogon's advanced pressure management system developed to reduce pressure injuries for people who use wheelchairs is being adapted for use first by military aircrews and soon will be available for commercial pilots and passengers alike.
Tim Balz and Amanda Krantz from Kalogon present a B-52H Stratofortress smart seat cushion prototype to Brig. Gen. Ty W. Neuman, Director of Strategic Plans, Programs and Requirements, Air Force Global Strike Command and other A5/8 leadership and members December 6, 2023, at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. Kalogon, a company that builds seat cushions for wheelchair patients, has been working with the A5/8 as they create the smart seat cushion while executing a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program that allows small businesses to explore new opportunities for research and development. The acquisition of this product will increase comfort and increase mission readiness for B-52H crews. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Micky Peña)
