FAQ
Orbiter Med FAQs
How do I determine if Orbiter Med is right for my patients?
Kalogon relies on clinical evaluations to determine if the Orbiter Med custom cushion is appropriate for your unique seating, positioning, and pressure management needs. We recommend you initiate your purchase through specialized seating providers such as a seating clinic, a licensed/certified medical professional such as a physical therapist (PT) or occupational therapist (OT, or Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS), preferably a certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP).
Orbiter Med is not available directly to consumers. To determine how the Orbiter Med can best meet your needs or your patient’s needs, please contact the Kalogon team through the contact form or by calling +1 321-465-4504.
How can Orbiter Med be customized for my needs?
-
Orbiter Med offers many custom design options which allow you to tailor fit Orbiter Med to your specific seating, positioning, and pressure management requirements -- additional customizations are available.
-
Orbiter Med is custom designed and individually fabricated by seating crafts people. Each is built fit to the needs of the user, no two are alike. Each is custom made to satisfy requirements that can’t sufficiently be satisfied by a prefabricated seating system.
-

Is Orbiter Med available for seating situations beyond wheelchairs such as recliners or other places my patients may sit?
-
Yes! Kalogon works with clinicians to find optimal seating, positioning, and pressure management solutions for complex custom seating situations such as recliners, car seats, home office chairs, or any place patients may sit for extended periods of time beyond their wheelchair. Kalogon will only construct these cushions in consultation with the clinician and additional charges may apply.
My patient has ___ seating issue, can Orbiter Med help with that?
-
All specialized seating providers need to assess each patient’s individual cushion needs. Please contact Kalogon to determine if Orbiter Med is appropriate for your patient’s needs. You can contact the Kalogon team through our website or by calling +1 321-465-4504.
Do my patients have to use the Advanced Pressure Management (APM) system?
-
In order to truly experience all the seating, positioning, and pressure management benefits the Kalogon Orbiter Med has to offer, it is recommended that your patients use APM, even though the cushion can be used without it.
-
APM is included as a standard feature in all Orbiter Med cushions, offering unparalleled pressure management and comfort by allowing a clinician to set levels of inflation, to program various presets for different seating situations, and to set the frequency of dynamic motion.
-
The Orbiter Med cushion is still custom fabricated based on each patient’s unique seating and positioning requirements - needs that can’t sufficiently be satisfied by a prefabricated seating system.

What is a preset and how can I use them?
-
When using the Kalogon app in partnership with your Orbiter Med, your clinician can create up to 10 presets. Presets allow you to specify what level of pressure your clinician recommends for various situations for each of the air cells in the APM. These presets can be saved for ongoing use. You can label these in the app so you know what situation each preset is designed for.
-
Presets can be used to address different situations such as switching the cushion between different wheelchairs, in a vehicle driver or passenger seat, in your favorite chair, while out of your chair, or even on an airplane. Some presets have even been used for situations like for eating, or for different pairs of shoes.
